SYNOPSIS
Nothing can be said about Rome, without implying also the exact opposite: it’s the coexistence of contradictory features that defines mostly the elusive character of the city. The documentary suggests a vision ofRomedivided between the sacred and the profane, the vulgar and the poetic, the eternal and the ephemeral, for the sake of showing a city full of ghosts and fading memories. Rome can be understood just through the eyes of imagination. For this reason a non narrative path has been followed, to represent the stranger’s hypothetical, long amazed subjective gaze, recreating the effect of city on the outsider´s state of mind: the movie is a patchwork of pictures collected during a decade; in a similar way was composed the Alvin Curran’s soundtrack, a mix of different recordings and sound fragments rescued along the roman streets.
