Premio Solinas is an Italian Screenwriting Competition started in 1986 to honor the late writer Franco Solinas (The Battle of Algiers, Kapò and Queimada! Direceted by Gillo Pontecorvo, L’Amerikano by Costa-Gavras and e Mr. Klein directed by Joseph Losey  and many others). For more than 30 years, the Prize has promoted and discovered new talent for Italian Cinema. More than 90 films have been produced from projects selected by the Prize and many among the recent generations of Italian authors and directors have been discovered through its yearly Screenwriter Competitions.
