Returns with its sixth edition Ortigia Film Festival, the film festival in the city of Syracusedirected by Lisa Romano, to be held July 14 to 20, 2014. The festival,which was born in 2009, focuses on the first and second films of Italian cinema, documentaries which is dedicated to a showcase, and international short films. The jury of the first and second films will be chaired by Israeli director Amos Gitai and it’s composed by Laura Delli Colli, Kravos, Enrico Lo Verso and Maurizio German. In competition some of the most representative first films of the Italian scene: Il venditore di medicine by Antonio Morabito; Smetto quando voglio by Sydney Sibilia; The summer is ending by Tummolini; Controra by Rossella De Venuto; Spaghetti Story by Ciro De Caro; Darkest midnight by Sebastian Rice. All screenings will be accompanied by meetings with authors and performers.
To showcase documentaries are Happy to Be Different by Gianni Amelio, Beautiful things Augustine Ferrente and Giovanni Piperno, I Tarantino Steve House, in collaboration with Maurizio German Manlio Gomarasca, Ghosts of St. Beryl Edoardo Morabito, Friendly Fire Francesco del Grosso, the dark side of the sun of Carlo Hintermann, and Vincent Paterson – a step from the stars of Kersti Grunditz.
Rich also the competitive section of the shortfilms with a selection of works including unreleased that will be evaluated by a jury chaired by Paola Poli flanked by Stefano Amadio and Luigi Tabitha.
Among the events of the Festival dedicated a Focus to Amos Gitai with three of his films: Ana Arabia, Lullaby to my father and Free Zone. Because Gitai, through his films, offers us a valuable perspective and reflection on the political and human reality that involves the entireMiddle East. Gitai, training architect, will also hold a master class in which talk about the relationship between architecture and cinema in his work. In 2012 he founded the first Israeli museum of architecture in memory of his father, the famous Bauhaus architect Munio Weinraub.
Then there will be a the Master Class with Enrico Lo Verso at work as an actor. He will also be dedicated to short films by Edoardo Ponti that the protagonist.
Another focus will be directed to the Argentine emerging cinema. And a tribute to Giorgio Faletti, who died recently, with Kravos and Luigi Tabitha who will compete in a reading of excerpts from the books.
Finally, the presentation of the book The Leopard by Luchino Visconti, fifty years of grandeur by critic Sebastiano Jesus.
