Molise Cinema 2013

The XI edition of Molise Cinema will take place from 6 to 11 August in Casacalenda (Campobasso), with a dense program of screenings, events and meetings with the protagonists of cinema and culture. The festival will open with a meeting between music and cinema: the concert Finaz, Orla and Nuto of Bandabardò, one of the best known and appreciated Italian groups, who retrace the history of rock with images of the great films of the 60s and 70s. After the preview of Provvidenti on 3 and 4 of August, as part of the Mediterranean Festival, with screenings and a meeting with the “guru” of taste Carlo Petrini, the festival gets underway in Casacalenda, on August 6. Among the 20 short films of the international competition (Villages in short), selected from over 1200 coming from 68 countries of the world, there are numerous national and international previews and some titles that arrive in Molise after obtaining awards at major international festivals. In the Italian Section are competing 16 shorts selected from the most recent national production of short films. Six are instead the titles of the documentary competition (Borders): We are not like James Bond by Mario Balsamo and Guido Gabrielli, the story of a reborn friendship through the experience of the disease; Step two by Teresa and Margherita Iaropoli Pescetti, a touching portrait of a friendship between two elderly women; Anja‘s ship by Roland Sejko, that tells the Albanian exodus of 1991; Nineteen seventy-two by Sergio Basso, on the life of Pietro Mennea; Just play by Dimitri Chimenti, about a music school in Palestine; The lion of Orvieto by Aureliano Amadei, about the history of the crack of Giancarlo Parretti. Alongside the films in the competition also four documentaries on some of the protagonists of Italian cinema: Giuseppe Tornatore, Valerio Zurlini, Alberto Sordi and Anna Magnani, portrayed in 1956 by Tony Vaccaro in the image for the poster of this edition of MoliseCinema. The competition for the debut (Paesi in lungo) will present seven films that will be accompanied to the festival by filmmakers who made them. Giorgia Farina will bring his Girlfriends to die, Francesco Amato will be in Casacalenda with Cosimo and Nicole, Rolando Ravello with Everyone against everyone,  Fabiana Sargentini with I do not know yet, Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza with Salvo. Among the films of Paesi in lungo also Miele by Valeria Golino and Itaker – Prohibited Italians by Toni Trupia. Among the guests at this eleventh edition there will also be the actor Giorgio Colangeli, which will be dedicated the Special of Paesi in lungo. There will also be a special screening of The Great Beauty by Paolo Sorrentino. In the usual appointment with the reading seven books will be presented by the authors, including that of Franco Arminio, the writer “paesologo”. Among the events that will enliven the Festival the show on the Big Bang of the writer Antonio Pascale and astrophysicist Amedeo Balbi. Under Filming Molise three events on the cinema shot in the region: the video made for the film with Checco Zalone Sole a catinelle, shot in some locations of the low Molise; the anticipation of the film shot in Larino Il sole dei cattivi Paolo Consorti with Nino Frassica and Luca Lionello which includes a special appearance by Nichi Vendola in the role of himself; a trailer of the film by Marco Simon Puccioni Like the wind, with Valeria Golino, dedicated to the life of the Molise region of origin of Armida Miserere. Even this year’s calendar is packed with MoliseCinema Tour, the traveling section of the festival after the preview of Cerro al Volturno (August 4) Molise Cinema will be in Larino (August 16), Venafro (August 23), Curly (August 27) , with the cooperation of local governments.

The festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and is promoted by Regione Molise, Campobasso Province and Municipality of Casacalenda.
