From August 7th to 12th in Casacalenda, in the province of Campobasso, the 16th edition of MoliseCinema. A dense and varied program, with 4 contests, numerous previews, many guests and events.
There are four competitive sections (international courts; Italian courts, Italian documentaries, feature films first and second works) and, in addition to the competitions, the festival presents special screenings , meetings with the protagonists, retrospectives, exhibitions and concerts.

MoliseCinema intends to promote the latest and most innovative productions of Italian and international cinema, promoting young authors and new languages, with particular attention to short films and documentaries.
During fourteen editions, the festival has offered to the public a highly structured programming, hosting hundreds of actors, directors, producers and experts.
The success achieved so far, the participation of numerous guests and protagonists of the film world, the visibility in the local and national press and a general consensus that there has been from institutions and civil society confirms the growing interest for MoliseCinema, which has become a constant reference point in the cultural life of Molise and the South, getting more and more international importance.
With the section “Discovering Molise” the festival intends to valorize the Molise as a location for film and audiovisual productions.
The association also organizes all year round exhibitions, screenings, meetings and events related to film culture.

At last, 100 years after the end of the First World War, MoliseCinema presents an exhibition of unpublished images made on the set of “The Great War” by Mario Monicelli from the assistant director Mario Maffei. The exhibition, curated by Lucia Baldini, tells the “behind the scenes” of the film starring Vittorio Gassman, Alberto Sordi and Silvana Mangano. The photos of the exhibition are linked to the image chosen for the 2018 poster of the Festival, which portrays Silvana Mangano in “La Grande Guerra” (photo by Sergio Strizzi).
