Molise Cinema TURNS 10 AND BAPTIZES THE RISING FILMCOMMISION MOLISE.

AT THE FESTIVAL AN OVERVIEW ON THE MOST RELEVANT INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM, DOCUMENTARY AND FICTION,  AMONG EVENTS, FILM AND MUSIC

At the start from 7 to 12 August the 10th edition of Molisecinema. The Festival, promoting the return of cinemas in small towns, offers a broad overview of films, documentaries and short films, national and international, and the presence of young authors in a contamination of cinema and music.

Two competitive sections of short films (international and Italian) with the addition of a competition of international documentaries and one dedicated to the works of some early promising Italian and foreign directors. There will also be a review of national films and a retrospective with some masterpieces of Italian and international cinema. Moreover, events, debates, meetings, concerts and numerous guests. Here is the full program of the tenth edition of MoliseCinema that takes place in Casacalenda, in theprovinceofCampobasso.

To open this year’s festival will be a screening of The Gold Rush, splendid silent film by Charlie Chaplin, followed by the concert / sound of Catherine Palaces Quartet, one of the best groups of young Italian jazz scene.

Four competitions, therefore, a retrospective and, new this year, a “film participated.” The director Antonietta De Lillo, in fact, will hold a workshop that will give the opportunity to authors, filmmakers and film lovers to join a large video investigation about love today.

Among the film screenings also Vai Avanti tu che mi viene da ridere by Giorgio Capitani: a comedy shot in 1982 with provocative themes still burning today such as transgender aesthetics and unmarried couples.

Other films: Il paese delle spose infelici by Pippo Mezzapesa, Sette atti di misericordia by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, Il mundial dimenticato by Lorenzo Garza and Philip Macelloni, Qualche nuvola by Saverio Di Biagio and I primi della lista by Roan Johnson.

Among the documentaries: Giusva by Francesco Patierno, Mi manca Riva – Storia di un collezionista di figurineby Giuseppe Gagliardi. Storia di un trafficante di libri by Piero Orazi, Emma Dante sud costa occidentale by Clarissa Chaplains, Mare chiuso by Andrea Segre and Stefano Liberti and (R)esistenza by Francesco Cavaliere.

After the success of last year, returns MoliseCinema School, competition in partnership with the Regional Education Office and the Comprehensive School of Casacalenda. Among the events of note, in closing the Festival, the presentation of the nascent Film Commission Molise which will seal the cinematographic vocation of the region.

Space also for the work of animation with the screening of the short film winners of the latest edition of Cartoons, the most important Italian festival of animated shorts. Among them: Organopolis by Nieto, La Dètente by Pierre Ducos and Bertrand Bey, Chest of drawers by Sanni Lahtien, Have you seen my sister Evelyn? by Hoku Uchiyama and You Shall not leave the way by Veronika Szemlova.

Among the guests who will enliven the festival this year: Alessandro Piva, directors Francesco Patierno, Philip Macelloni, Pippo Mezzapesa and Saverio Di Biagio, actress Valentina Carnelutti, the actor Lino Guanciale, Angelo Pisani and Katia Follesa, two historical faces from TV programme Zelig, the journalist and writer Antonio Pascale and the Manifesto reporter Stefano Liberti.

MoliseCinema is directed by Federico Pommier Vincelli, is promoted by theProvince of Campobasso, in collaboration with the Region of Molise and the Municipality of Casacalenda and is sponsored by the General Direction for Cinema of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.
