At the start from 2 to 7 August the 9th edition of the Festival, which offers international short films and the presence of young Italian directors, in a contamination of cinema and music.

Over one hundred projections in the program, four competitions: for international short films, Italian shorts, documentaries and this year a competition for Italian films dedicated to the selection of first and second films. In addition, a retrospective section on the 150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNITY OF ITALY, which provides, among others, the projection of the restored copy of The Leopard by Luchino Visconti. Among the shorts some never seen before in Italy like Deeper than Yesterday, which was given the Prize of the International Jury for short films at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011 and which will be presented for the first time in Italy in Casacalenda.

Among the guests who will enliven the festival: Peppe Servillo, Aureliano Amadei, Ciarrapico Giacomo, Giuseppe Gagliardi, Linen Pillow, Gianfranco Pannone, Giovanni Piperno, and also writers Antonio Pascale and Franco Arminio.

Among the events the Concert by Ferruccio Spinetti and Petra Gizzards in “Naked Music”, which is part of the exhibition “Steps Sound IV” directed by Matteo Patavino within the Project Intangibles Basso Molise Cinema, which is a partner. Moreover, the presence of Roy Paci, who plays music for The Cabinet of Mr. Caligari (1920), a masterpiece of the history of silent film reinterpreted by a great Italian musician, event in collaboration with the cooperative Nardacchione during the thirty years of activity.

Peppe Servillo will take part in the musical Singing the bread inspired by Predrag Matvejevic’s Our Bread, as narrator with Silvia Schiavoni (voice), Gianni Trovalusci (flutes), Giancarlo Schiaffini (trombone), Gianluca Ruggeri (percussion). Servillo will also present the film by Paola Randi Into Paradise.

Other films: Boris by Mattia Torre, Giacomo Ciarrapico, Luca Vendruscolo, The Black sheep by Ascanio Celestini, The Jewel byAndrea Molaioli, Tatanka by Giuseppe Gagliardi, 20 cigarettes in Nasiriyah  by Aureliano Amadei and as a special event We Have a Pope by Nanni Moretti.

Among the documentaries: The earth in the eyes of Gaia Adducchio, Ageroland Carlotta Cerquetti, Folder Cosimo Terlizzi, Tiberio Mitri. I did not think that life was so long by Aureliano Amadei, Alessandro Falcone, Gian Piero Palombini, Waltz sequin Vito Palmieri and Arsy-Versy Miroslav Remo.

From this year there will also be short films fromMolisecinemaSchool, a new competition in partnership with the Regional Education Office and the Comprehensive School of Casacalenda that will be presented during the Festival.

In the exploration of the visual territories Molisecinema opens a window on the international video-art, with the work of Susan Kleinberg Blood Roll,New York artist and famous international presence. Then, there will be three seminars for cinema and a Workshop about theoretical and practical film and territory by Gianfranco Pannone and Giovanni Piperno. And also the Review: Turn the Molise, with young filmmakers from the region, and projections for children Cartoon network.

Molise Cinema is directed by Federico Pommier Vincelli, is promoted by the Province of Campobasso, in collaboration with the Region of Molise and the Municipality of Casacalenda and is sponsored by the General Direction for Cinema of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture.
