SYNOPSIS
Directors Andrea Prandstraller and Niccolo Bruna give a behind-the-scenes look at a massive production of Verdi’s Aida at Italy’s Verona Arena, an outdoor Roman amphitheater built in the first century. Celebrating the centenary of the area and the bicentennial of Verdi’s birth, the production is far from a traditional performance, created by the Spanish avant-garde theater troupe Fura dels Baus. From rehearsals to the opening night, Magicarea is an enthralling treat as we follow workers and artists determined to design and shape a show larger than life.
