The third edition of CiakPolska (November 13th to 19th) takes again to Rome the vitality and the originality of Polish new cinema in 7 days of screenings and events dedicated to the new generation of Polish film makers.
The competition and the event include nearly 30 productions: feature films in competition, documentaries, animation, shorts from Andrzej Wajda School and Polish Classics. In competition, mainly first and second works directed by young directors who are promoting the new vision of their generation of film makers.
The guest of honour of this year is Krzysztof Zanussi, protagonist of the section “Krzysztof Zanussi – Viaggio in Italia” by Emma Neri. The section presents six of his movies, that show the relationship between the director and Italy. Michał Waszyński is the protagonist of the other retrospective in program, that includes three of his films produced together with the Italian director and scriptwriter Vittorio Cottafavi. Two out of these three films are at their first screening in Rome: “La grande strada” and “Fiamme sul mare”. This retrospective is presented by the famous Polish director Piotr Rosołowski.
The festival will be hosted at Casa del Cinema, whereas Cinema Trevi will host the Cineteca Classic section. The festival is organized by the Polish Institute of Rome, in collaboration with Polish Film Insitute, Cortoitaliacinema, Rome Independent Film Festival, Cineteca Nazionale – Cinema Trevi, Casa del Cinema and Studio Filmowe TOR.
